Plane Transporting Supports to TPLF Shot Down, says ENDF Official – Ethiopian Monitor

ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) on Wednesday said it has shot down a plane carrying weapons for the Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF), a state-run Ethiopian News Agency reported.

The report comes hours after another round of war erupted in northern Ethiopia, which federal government officials said was started by the TPLF troops.

The National air force shot down the plane “believed to be the property of Ethiopia’s historical enemies” after it entered the Ethiopian air space via Sudan, the news agency qouted ENDF official, Maj. Gen. Tesfaye Ayalew, as saying

Maj. Gen. Tesfaye Ayalew the plane was “heading to Tigray via Humera to deliver armaments to the terrorist group.”

The plane was shot down by the Air at ten o’clock last night, according to the report.

All of the Ethiopian security forces are on alert more than ever ready to protect the country’s sovereignty and citizens’ peace and security from terrorist attacks, Maj. Gen. Tesfaye said.

The latest fighting between the Tplf and federal forces in northern Ethiopia erupted on Wednesday as the five-month-long ceasefire collapsed.

The humanitarian truce, which has been in place since March was expected to lead the two sides to peace talks.
